The GP Greenwaste system disposes and recycles the majority of green waste in accordance with EU legislation.

A new multi million pound investment food waste processing facility is opening at our Green Recycling plant in Blantyre February 2011.This facility complements our existing green waste processing facility. The food waste is combined with greenwaste using an ‘In Vessel’ process which then produces a high quality organic compost that is beneficial in horticulture, landscaping, agriculture, brownfield restoration and has the potential for many other useful purposes.

This facility is available to both private contractors and Local Authorities with the majority of recycling carried out at our centrally based Blantyre depot.

The process involves meticulous processing of the raw materials to minimise contaminants.

The composting process can take up to 12 weeks and is carefully monitored to avoid damage through overheating and ensure nutrient retention.

The end product is an extremely rich compost, high in fibre and nutrients, suitable for use in a variety of situations.

GP Plantscape now use this compost in all containers issued to clients.

We are currently working to achieve BSI PAS 100(2000), the British Standard for compost production.
